Ad & Privacy Settings

On this page

Playkudo is a free service, and ads are what will keep it free. This page explains — in plain words — which ads appear today, what changes when Google advertising arrives, and the choices you and your family have.

Ads today: clearly labeled, made by us

In short: Right now every ad space on Playkudo shows our own placeholder panel or house promo. Nothing is tracked.

While we prepare our Google partnership, ad spaces show simple placeholder panels made by us: gray, dashed, always labeled “Advertisement”. They are contextual (matched to the page, never to a person), they set no cookies, and no advertising data leaves your device. The optional promo videos inside games are also ours — “Playkudo Picks”, a peek at our other games, never third-party ads.

What changes with Google AdSense & AdX

In short: Ads will be served by Google AdSense first, and later Google Ad Exchange (AdX). Google will use cookies to do it.

When Google advertising goes live on Playkudo, the following applies — as Google requires us to tell you:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time — using the switch below, in Google Ads Settings, or at aboutads.info/choices.

Even then, ads on Playkudo will keep our house rules: always clearly labeled, separated from the play area, never looking like download buttons. The only promotional thing inside the player itself is our own “Playkudo Picks” promo videos — made by us, shown only when a child asks for a boost.

How kids stay protected

In short: Playkudo is flagged to Google as child-directed, so ads served here are non-personalized by design.

Playkudo is made for children aged 6–12. When Google ads launch, every ad request will carry Google’s TFAT tag with the value CHILD (TFAT is the successor to the older TFCD/TFUA tags, used for COPPA compliance). That means Google serves only age-appropriate, non-personalized ads here — no behavioral profiles, no remarketing, no interest-based targeting — regardless of any other setting. We will also keep blocking sensitive ad categories (such as gambling, dating, alcohol, and weight loss) at the network level.

Your choice on this device

In short: Personalized ads are off by default. This switch is saved in this browser and will be sent to Google before any ad loads.

Personalized advertising: Off

Recommended. You will see contextual ads only — chosen by the page you are on, not by your activity across the web.

This preference lives in your browser’s local storage on this device only. When AdSense or AdX goes live, Playkudo reads it before loading any ad code and passes it to Google (as a request for non-personalized ads when off). If you clear your browser’s site data, the choice resets to Off.

More ways to opt out or limit ad tracking

  • Google Ads Settings turn off ad personalization across Google services (requires a Google account).
  • aboutads.info/choices and networkadvertising.org opt out of personalized ads from many other ad companies at once.
  • Your browser settings — block third-party cookies entirely, or clear site data for playkudo.com.

Depending on where you live

In short: EEA/UK visitors get a consent choice before any Google ad loads; California residents can say “do not sell or share”.

European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland: when Google ads launch, a consent message will ask before any ad cookie is set, as GDPR and Google’s EU User Consent Policy require. Saying “no” means contextual, non-personalized ads only.

California (CCPA/CPRA): switching “Personalized advertising” off above is treated as a “do not sell or share my personal information” request for this device — and since Playkudo’s ads are child-directed, no personal information is sold or shared for advertising in the first place.
